On the occasion of the ninth edition of the festival, FOG and Ariella Vidach, artistic director of the company AiEP, together with young choreographers, present a project specifically designed for public space, creating an opportunity to explore the city’s places and their relationship with technology. Young dancers perform improvisations and site-specific interventions in the Parco della Vettabbia in Chiaravalle, in collaboration with Terzo Paesaggio. The project investigates a new relationship between body and nature, between movement and urban space, interacting with the everyday life of the metropolitan environment and engaging the unusual gaze of citizen-spectators.
Ariella Vidach is a choreographer and dancer of Croatian origin who trained in New York in the 1980s with leading figures of American postmodern dance, from Trisha Brown, Twyla Tharp, and Dana Reitz to Steve Paxton and Bill T. Jones. She began her work in New York, creating performances that were also presented in Europe. She returned to Milan in 1990 and in 1996, together with Claudio Prati, founded the dance company AiEP. She lives in Milan, where she teaches at the Paolo Grassi School and the Brera Academy of Fine Arts.
The company Ariella Vidach AiEP – Avventure in Elicottero Prodotti explores the use of interactive media in relation to the body and movement, creating refined and evocative multimedia artworks. Its works have been performed in Italy and abroad at major theaters and international festivals. In addition to producing performances, AiEP plays an important role at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan in spreading knowledge about interactive technologies applied to performing arts, organizing festivals and production residencies for young creators. In recognition of her innovative work at the intersection of technology and dance, Ariella Vidach received the WSA e-content Creativity Award promoted by the United Nations in 2013, and in 2017 the company was awarded the “Special Prize” at the Swiss Dance Awards.
