Vitrea: Vetro italiano contemporaneo d’autoreis an exhibition devoted to glassware designed by international artists and made by great Italian master craftsmen. Organised together with the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte and curated by Jean Blanchaert, Vitrea presents the finest contemporary artworks, illustrating Italian expertise in designer glassmaking. The works on show are different in terms of technique, poetic vision and function, and they reveal the huge creative variety in contemporary glassware, ranging from sculpture to lighting, to figurative works and stained glass, blown glass, lampwork glass, solid glass, fused glass, and mosaic and moulded glass, as well as works in which glass is coupled with other materials, such as iron and wood.
Vitrea is the second project in the Mestieri d’Arte & Design. Crafts Culture series, which offers an original view of contemporary decorative arts.
