Amaro Freitas is the new revolutionary voice of Brazilian jazz. Born in Recife, he transforms the piano into a kaleidoscope of sound, weaving the rhythms of frevo and baião with the free improvisation of Coltrane, Monk and Chick Corea. After the acclaimed Sankofa, he returns with Y'Y (on Psychic Hotline), a spiritual journey into the Amazon and the indigenous Sateré Mawé culture. With guests such as Shabaka Hutchings and Brandee Younger, Freitas moulds radical, decolonial, ecological and deeply human jazz.
