An International Bootcamp in Milan

Together with Qatar Museums (QM) and Design Doha, Qatar Museums’ biennial for design excellence in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, from April 20 to May 15, 2026, we hosted Learning from Milan: a bootcamp at Triennale Milano for young graduates from universities in Qatar. An immersive experience that combined education, project-based work, and cultural exchange.

Starting with the Milano Design Week period, a group of university students from Qatar arrived in Milan to take part in an intensive learning experience that combined design, culture, and international exchange.

We launched a collaboration with Qatar Museums and Design Doha to develop a training program aimed at young graduates from Qatari universities. The program was designed for graduates with professional experience—designers, interior architects, and communication professionals—who came together at Triennale Milano to work collaboratively on a concrete project.

The selection of students was entrusted to Design Doha, in collaboration with universities in Qatar, and promoted through an open call in December 2025. The call was open to graduates from universities in Qatar and other institutions based in Doha, with academic backgrounds related to design, anthropology, and cultural studies. In January 2026, the selection committee—composed of a representative from Qatar Museums, one from the VCU design faculty, and one from Triennale Milano—selected five participants: Reema Abu Hassan, designer, architect, and ceramicist, Abdulrahman Al Muftah, multidisciplinary artist, Adriane de Souza, Brazilian artist living in Doha, Maryam Hashim, designer, Meryem Omerspa, designer and architect.
