Sound Chronicles. Archivio sonoro MPDS is a publication with an accompanying vinyl record published by Quodlibet, dedicated to the sound archive of Mario Pieroni and Dora Stiefelmeier, which brings together more than 2,600 audio recordings produced by over 200 artists from the 1960s to the present day. The volume features newly commissioned essays exploring sound as language, archive, collective practice, and a site of artistic and political experimentation. The event presents the publication through a conversation on the history, practices and future of sound archives, accompanied by a listening session featuring a selection of works included on the vinyl, with pieces by Alvin Curran, Steve Piccolo, Michael J. Schumacher, Eva Marisaldi, Chris Burden, Maurizio Nannucci, Jonas Mekas, Jimmie Durham, Maria Thereza Alves, La Monte Young and other leading figures in contemporary sound art.
