Triennale Milano hosts the final showcase of 25AV, a residency produced together with Radio Raheem. Part of a Creative Europe network connecting five European cities, 25AV is a cultural platform dedicated to audiovisual experimentation and avant-garde media arts. The evening presents the results of nine days of collective research: the performance by Marianna Maruyama, Hessel Veldman, Mikas Zabulionis, and Lukas Mykolaitis, blending underground attitude with international visions, and the work of Hugo Mir-Valette & Niccolò Moronato, focused on the dialogue between digital architectures and physical performance. A double interdisciplinary set that challenges conventional performative languages and will culminate, in 2027, in a major collective festival at Kanal–Centre Pompidou.
Marianna Maruyama is an artist and writer living on the coast of the North Sea, in The Hague. Through her poetry, performance, and sculpture, she hopes to make people feel less alone. Translation and transformation are the red threads in her practice, and her creations often take an intimate, dreamlike, and personal tone. She is the founder of Tufa Editions, a publishing project specializing in print, sound, and scent publications designed to travel light.
Hessel Veldman is a musician, composer and radio- and music-producer. An early fascination with electronic audio devices, in combination with a preference for writing and performing extremely idiosyncratic music, has created a wide range of experimental music and radio productions.
Lukas Mykolaitis is a professional architectural photographer and artist based in Kaunas, Lithuania. His work often explores space, time, and historical memory through collecting, documenting, archiving, writing and other interdisciplinary methods. Lukas is a co-founder and director of the collective Paveldo Institutas (the Institute of Heritage).
Mikas Zabulionis is a videographer and interdisciplinary artist from Kaunas, Lithuania. He usually works within the fields of culture, architecture, and independent cinema, while remaining open and adaptable - working with image, sound, and other tools. He is a co-founder and technical director of the collective Paveldo Institutas (the Institute of Heritage).
Hugo Mir-Valette is a composer and artist, drawing inspiration from the Mediterranean sea to produce immersive soundscapes, that have notably been presented at the Biblioteca Vasconcelos, Palais de Tokyo, Centre Pompidou, Stedelijk Museum, Mucem, or the Baths of Diocletian. Hugo created a vibrational composition for Josèfa Ntjam at the 2024 Venice Biennale.
Niccolò Moronato is an artist, organizer, and language designer rooted in the southern Venice Lagoon. Their participatory works across video, sound, and performance draw on years embedded in Chioggia's fishing community, exploring resistance through translation and collective voice. Niccolò founded Bogiaisso, a video art festival in dialogue with fishers and islanders from Chioggia. Their work has been presented at MADRE, Villa Romana, and IUNO.
SONAI is a collaboration originally initiated by Niccolò Moronato (Chioggia) and Hugo Mir-Valette (Marseille), exploring new ways of listening to the Mediterranean Sea and narrating its landscapes, drawing inspiration from industrial fishing and the human and social experiences that characterize it. Whether through sound, image, performance, or simply presence, SONAI welcomes participation from artists, fishers, and local communities in documenting and reimagining our relationship with the sea and the communities that depend on it.
